India lost to Great Britain 4-3 in the women’s hockey bronze medal match between India and Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics. But people in India are very excited about the performance of the women’s team. People say that it is inspiring for daughters to reach there.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Proud of this team. We will always remember the stellar performance of our women’s hockey team in Tokyo 2020. We missed out on a medal in women’s hockey but this team reflects the spirit of New India. Her success in Tokyo 2020 will inspire more daughters to take up hockey.”
Haryana CM ML Khattar said that he will give an award of Rs 50 lakh each to nine members of the Olympic women’s hockey team who are from Haryana. “I congratulate the Indian team for their commendable performance in the Tokyo Olympics,” he said.
Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal’s father said that it is not a defeat but a victory for the effort put in by the women’s hockey team. On her return the Queen will be greeted with joy. Women’s hockey team will inspire many girls in future.
On the other hand, hockey player Neha Goyal’s mother became emotional after the Indian women’s team lost to Great Britain in the bronze medal match.
He said that winning or losing is part of the game. He is sure that the team will win again.
Gurjit Kaur’s brother Gurcharan Singh said that it is not really a loss. It is a matter of pride for us to reach our girls so far.
